The challenge
Retailers recognised the yellow PayPal button but there was little understanding of the breadth of the PayPal partnership “beyond the button.” We needed to shout about the real PayPal at Europe’s biggest retail event.
The solution
To captivate our audience and challenge their expectations, we used the element of surprise – associating the recognisable yellow button with unexpected experiences and PayPal capabilities.
Our key activation at the event took the form of a giant ‘Surprise’ button. Found on large digital screens at the event, attendees could ‘push for a surprise’. Performances from brass bands, beatboxers and even a choir would appear, delighting our audience and landing our key message: ‘We’re more than just a button’. ‘Get ready to be surprised by what we can do’.
